| Detecting Changes in Fringe Pattern | The specimen’s expansion or contraction during heating or cooling modifies the length of the optical path between the reflecting surfaces, which in turn modifies the fringe pattern. It is possible to determine expansion and the expansion coefficient by detecting this alteration and translating it into a change in length. |
