Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our testing standards, turnaround times, sample handling, confidentiality, and pricing.
What testing standards and methods do you support (ASTM, ISO, IEC, MIL-STD, etc.)?
We support all major testing standards, including ASTM, ISO, IEC, MIL-STD, DIN, and more. If you are not sure which testing standard or technique to use for your analysis, we'll evaluate your requirements during a preliminary conversation and suggest the appropriate method/technique.
Do you offer custom or non-standard test methods for novel materials or prototypes?
Yes, absolutely. We ask about the goal of the analysis to determine the appropriate test method/technique, test conditions, and fixtures/instruments, and then share a comprehensive test plan or scope of work (SoW) based on that. We finalize the SoW with your inputs and final requirements before commencing the test.
What is your typical turnaround time for standard tests vs. complex failure analysis?
We complete the standard tests within 5 to 7 days, depending on the individual test duration required by the procedure. Failure analysis often takes longer than routine testing because it requires a thorough examination schedule involving several techniques/methods. We offer expedited services for a rush charge, where applicable.
What sample sizes and preparation do you need? Can you machine specimens, if required?
Sample requirements depend on the method/technique chosen. However, we do our best to accommodate sample/specimen sizes that do not meet the requirement through possible alterations in fixtures, etc. We also perform sample preparation and machining if the client requires it.
Can you provide raw data files in addition to summary reports?
Yes, we provide raw data files if applicable. Although we provide a very comprehensive report, we understand that many teams need raw data for their own analysis, modeling, or regulatory submissions.
Are your labs accredited (ISO/IEC 17025, A2LA, NVLAP, etc.) and can you provide certificates?
Yes, we work with labs with suitable accreditations. We understand that accreditation is often mandatory for test credibility, regulatory submissions, customer audits, or federal programs.
Do you offer chain-of-custody documentation for legal or IP-sensitive work?
Yes, we provide chain-of-custody (CoC) documents whenever required by the client.
What confidentiality protections and NDAs do you offer for proprietary materials?
Maintaining confidentiality of your data is of supreme importance to us. We enter into mutual non-disclosure agreements (MNDAs) with you and the serving laboratory, providing a double layer of protection. We identify samples and materials only by sample IDs, and projects by an internal project ID.
How do you handle sample disposal or return after testing?
We dispose of samples following material-specific disposal guidelines at our testing facilities. We arrange return shipping for samples after non-destructive testing or for unused samples, per the client's request. We monitor the whole process and update you through emails.
How is pricing structured (per test, per sample, volume discounts), and what factors affect cost?
We offer standard test prices derived from factors like equipment used, time required, technique used, sample requirements, etc. Our transparency on base rates, rush fees, and additional charges (e.g., specimen prep) is reflected in the detailed quotes we share upfront. Customized, tailor-made solutions are quoted above standard rates (if required), depending on the project's complexity.
Do you provide technical consultation or interpretation support with test results?
Yes, we provide a comprehensive report with sample details, specimen preparation, instrument and calibration details, followed by procedure, results, and charts/graphs (if applicable). Our detailed report helps our clients understand what the data means for their design or failure mode, not just raw numbers.
