Chain-link fences are commonly employed in homes, industries, and well settings in terms of security, delineation of property, and controlling access. ASTM F567 was created to define consistent practices in the installation of such fences and to contribute to the decrease of structural failures, and also to guarantee the consistency in performance. It not only gives instructions regarding fence posts and fabric but also gates, bracing, tie wires, and barbed wire when needed. Notably, it does not forbid other practices which prove to be equally or better in field conditions.
ASTM F567 Test Method
| Specimen Preparation and Setup | Before the installation of the fence, the buyer will be required to plant the fence line, gates, and terminal posts at uniform spacing. Underground utilities, benchmarks, and property markers should all be identified, and clearing and grading of sites should be carried out to enable clearance. |
| Testing Procedure | The chain-link material should be stretched to eliminate the slack, and must be located to the exterior of the enclosed space, and tied or clipped as required. Weaving a picket is used to give a continuous mesh roll. The size of gate posts should be ASTM compliant, and gates should be in place and mounted so that there is enough clearance to operate. |
