Nickel-copper alloys, including Monel and other alloys of this type, are much appreciated in terms of their strength, corrosion resistance, and adaptability even in harsh industrial conditions. ASTM E76 provided standardized methods to establish the chemical composition of such alloys in order to provide uniformity and compare the findings in different labs. This was particularly important in the checking of material properties to the specification requirement in mechanical performance and corrosion resistance. The structure of ASTM E76 was no longer used in 2003, however, it is still referred to in metallurgical textbooks and has become a reference point in older alloy testing methods. Its methodologies made it accurate, reproducible, and industrially relevant, enabling it to meet the industry’s standards at its peak.
