A minor load of 10 kg is applied without shock and removed 15 (+1, -0) seconds later. The Rockwell hardness on the red scale is read to the nearest full-scale division 15 s.
    Procedure BBy placing a soft copper block on the anvil, raising it to the 12.7 mm indenter, and applying the primary load by tripping, one can calculate the vertical distance of indentation as well as the spring tension of the machine frame and elastic compressive deformation using the dial gauge.
