ASTM D1623 Test Method
The method has two variations as follows:
| Tensile Testing | D1623 method involves loading rigid cellular plastic material in a universal testing machine equipped with grips for securing the specimens. The specimens are loaded at a constant rate until failure occurs. The load and elongation measurements are recorded. |
| Tensile Adhesion Testing | The adhesive bonds between cellular plastics and substrates are tested for strength and integrity. The specimen’s failure under tensile loading is determined, and the adhesive bond strength, cohesion, and extent of failure are measured. |
