• There will be a quick assessment of conformity to the parts and perfect for instances where many parts need to be assessed within a short period.
• Contributes to the simplification of the inspection exercise by assigning acceptable limits.

Limitations 

Measuring

• May take a lot of time in terms of cost estimation when handling large quantities.
• Can only be operated by skilled persons 

Gauging

• It does not give measures but only sends either pass or fail reports.
• Restricted to ascertaining whether or not a part passes predetermined criteria
