Introduction

Changes in mass, dimensions, appearance, hardness, and strength are determined after exposure. In the case of coatings, the surface tests that are typically conducted to determine the damage and loss of adhesion are spot tests and immersion tests.

The extent of minimal changes results in good chemical resistance, whereas large-scale degradation is an indicator of incompatibility. Chemical resistance testing offers a good understanding of the material’s resistance to chemical attacks. Nevertheless, the laboratory environment might not be representative of the actual complex real-world, and findings are supposed to be analyzed along with service data.
