ISO 14853 Test Method
| Test procedure | In this method, biodegradation is determined in an aqueous system by measuring the rate of production of biogas from anaerobic microorganisms. Sludge activity is tracked using several parallel blank and reference controls. Furthermore, three replicate vessels for each group are also prepared. Changes in the pressure of headspace above the vessels OR flux of biogas, and at the close of the test, inorganic carbon is extracted. |
| Incubation condition | The test substance is added to a sealed container containing digested sludge at a solid concentration between 1 g/L to 3 g/L. This container is then incubated at 35 ± 2ºC for a maximum of 90 days. |
