    Test procedure In this setup, the material is contained in a sealed container with washed-down, digested anaerobic sludge. The rise in headspace pressure of the test vessels as a result of degradation and subsequent production of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) is measured during degradation.

    The rate of biogas production is determined. Microbiologically derived carbon yields are calculated from net gas production and the net inorganic carbon formation that exceeds that of the blank replicates.
