    ISO 10707 is the internationally verified standard for testing the full aerobic biodegradability of organic matter in water by the closed bottle method. This method replicates surface waters/in diluted wastewater-like conditions, so that you can know whether a specific substance will biodegrade if it gets into the environment through it. “Ultimate biodegradability” means that carbon dioxide (CO₂) plus water plus biomass are completely decomposed from something, not just its partial change.

    ISO 10707 Test Method

    ISO 10707 is a simple and constrained exercise to estimate the O2 uptake by microorganisms during 28 days of degradation of the test substrate.

    Test procedure The sample is placed in the bottle, with no headspace present. As the degradation process occurs, dissolved oxygen (DO) in the system is consumed, and this value is used to calculate the percentage of degradation.
