The OECD 301B test is part of the OECD 301 test series, which is designed to measure the aerobic biodegradation or readiness for biodegradation of a chemical substance, where the substance is placed in a closed system containing a microbial inoculum, and the loss of the substance is measured through the production of CO2. This method uses respirometry to measure a material´s ability to biodegrade based on the measurement of CO2 production in a liquid medium for at least 28 days.
OECD 301B Test Method
| Test procedure | In this test the aerobic biodegradability is analysed using respirometry and the amount of CO2 emission is determined after an incubation period of 28 days in the closed vessels. |
