ASTM D7012 standard has several test procedures that determine uniaxial and triaxial compressive strength, static elastic modulus, and time-dependent deformation under predetermined laboratory conditions. The strength and deformation of intact rock is essential knowledge in safe and efficient practical design in rock engineering. It can withstand ambient temperature as well as high-temperature conditions and can be used to test under confining pressures to mimic stress conditions. It is possible to assess rock behavior accurately in this standard due to the simulation of field conditions to be used in numerical modeling, slope stability, and support system design.
