Pressure-sensitive adhesives’ tack is critical for uses where there needs to be immediate bonding with less applied force. This specification encompasses two main techniques: Method A, which involves manually or mechanically forming a loop and placing it onto the substrate, and Method B, which utilizes a motorized loop-forming tool. Each of them gives information on the maximum force needed to remove the adhesive loop from the test surface. The standard is used for a variety of adhesives, including acrylic, rubber, and silicone systems, in tapes, labels, and protective films. ASTM D6195 enables the constant evaluation of tack properties, regardless of product form or adhesive chemistry.
