Methodology

Salt spray tests are normally conducted by setting test panels under controlled conditions. That is surface preparation under control, film thickness. The panels are subjected to a rather higher temperature and some mist of 5 % salt water. The panels are periodically checked, usually after 24, 48, 96, 168, 336, 500, and 1000 h, and analyzed in terms of defects, including degree of rusting, blistering, and chalking. Importance of Salt Spray Testing
