Introduction
Salt spray test is a procedure for evaluating the corrosiveness of coatings and materials utilized to produce products like fasteners. The test is accomplished by subjecting the material to salt spray, or saltwater mist, for some duration of time. The test time will be different with the kind of material under test. In this quality test, quality heads will examine the corrosion signs that include rusting, pitting, or flaking. Salt spray testing is one of the most essential steps in the product development process, as it ensures that the items will be resistant to the weather and can still carry out the tasks they are designed to accomplish.
Features of Testronix salt spray chamber
The possibility of measuring the rust-proofing capabilities of the components before their application in business or industrial applications is crucial. The reason behind this is that corrosion may result in metals being damaged. Nevertheless, after using this time-tested product, you will be able to establish the corrosion resistance behaviours of metals. Specifically designed, this kind of lab testing equipment is designed to establish the rust-resistant capacity of the parts against corrosion, depending on atmospheric conditions. Thus, with the help of this product, you will be able to ensure that the parts that you are working with are resistant to corrosion.

Methodology
Salt spray tests are normally conducted by setting test panels under controlled conditions. That is surface preparation under control, film thickness. The panels are subjected to a rather higher temperature and some mist of 5 % salt water. The panels are periodically checked, usually after 24, 48, 96, 168, 336, 500, and 1000 h, and analyzed in terms of defects, including degree of rusting, blistering, and chalking. The panels are occasionally scribed with an “X” slicing through the coating to the substrate. This is to measure creep or filiform corrosion.

Importance of Salt Spray Testing
Salt spray testing remains a useful screening procedure, which is cheap and can be done quickly to ascertain the resistance to corrosion. It enables the manufacturers to compare the different processes of coating and detect the abnormalities in the processes, and also to verify the quality of the product before its implementation. Even though more advanced cyclic and environmental tests have evolved to forecast performance, salt spray remains a reference source of choice as it is easy to apply, repeatable, and the correlation with historical data has been noted throughout industries.
