One of the three types of alpha-olefin co-monomers is used to manufacture LLDPE plastic. Further, it is also possible to control the properties of LLDPE by copolymerization it with other co-monomers such as butene and hexene. Since LLDPE possesses special melt flow characteristics (rheology), it is generally processed employing blow molding film extrusion, or injection molding, but film extrusion is the most used process.
The tensile strength can be high in linear low-density polyethylene plastic even if it is drawn to great extremes in the linear direction. Due to the linear molecular structure of the polymer, it is also suitable for application in enclosing mechanisms.
Instrumentation of Linear Low-Density Polyethylene
LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene) is created from a polymerization process in which alpha-olefin co-monomers including butene or hexene are connected with ethylene. It polymerizes usually by gas phase or solution techniques and molecular weight distribution and branching can be done through catalysts like Ziegler Natta or Metallocene. The final product is then cooled and pelted. The resulting product is yielded after polymerization. Examples of instruments used in LLDPE production are reactor vessels and temperature, pressure, catalyst feed system, flow meters, viscometers, and extruders for quality control by tensile testers and melt flow indexers.
Strengths and Limitations of LLDPE
Strengths

Limitations
- Limited thermal stability
- Less rigid than other types of polyethylene
- May experience environmental stress cracking
- Joint tensile strength is lower compared with some other polymers.
